ERICSSON RACING TEAM ANNOUNCES NORDIC MEDIA CREW

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Sept. 23, 2008) - Ericsson Racing Team announces that Gustav Morin will be the media crewmember for skipper Anders Lewander and the Nordic crew onboard Ericsson 3.

The 24-year-old Morin, of Stockholm, Sweden, brings great experience in writing and photography to the position. In the past year Morin was a reporter for TV8 in Stockholm on the program Båtmagasinet, where he wrote manuscripts, tested boats and did feature pieces on travel. He has also been an editor, reporter and photographer for Sweden’s Båtnytt magazine.

“I think I’m quite lucky. The Nordic guys are good to talk with and very open,” said Morin, who helped deliver Ericsson 3 to Alicante, Spain, two weeks ago. “This all goes hand in hand with what I love to do; work on boats, write and take photos. Since I like the sport it’s easy to get into it.”

The media crewmember is a new feature of the Volvo Ocean Race, with each boat required to carry one crewmember whose time is devoted to chronicling life aboard a Volvo Open 70 and relaying all the collateral - text, pictures, audio and video - to the race office.

Morin is relatively new to professional sailing. His first major experience was being a grinder for Sweden’s Victory Challenge, which placed fifth at the Louis Vuitton Cup last year.

Morin and skipper Lewander share a common interest, adventure sailing. Both have competed in the Archipelago Raid, an extreme orienteering race between Sweden and Finland sailed in 18-foot catamarans. Lewander skippered the winning entry in 2003, and
Morin placed 6th as crew last summer in his first attempt.

“With good knowledge and education in media and journalism, along with the youthful interest in technology and finding new camera angles, Gustav is perfect for the mission,” said Lewander. “In competitions such as the Archipelago Raid, Gustav has shown sporting endurance and racing spirit.”

Eleven days remain until the Volvo Ocean Race begins with the first inshore race in Alicante, Spain, host port for the start, scheduled Oct. 4. The first offshore leg, to Cape Town, South Africa, is scheduled to begin one week later, Oct. 11.

This is Ericsson’s second foray in the Volvo Ocean Race, which it sees as a valuable platform to meet clients and customers around the world while also showcasing its technology.
